Tacos Oaxaca
1324 N Main St, Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina
Tucked-away spot in a Fuquay strip mall, on our short list thanks to a suggestion from Paola. Went with Brooke and the Nelsons (baby Ever stole the show). Ordered four tacos individually: barbacoa, carne asada, al pastor, and Baja fish. The Baja fish was the table winner this time. Good flavor, lots of meat, relaxed and inviting spot. 4.3 tacos!

Tacos and friends is always a great night. Brooke and I were excited to hang out with Ayren and Morgan and their baby Ever (who stole the show btw). Life moves fast, but when tacos are involved we all find the time haha! Tacos Oaxaca has been on our short list of places to try in Fuquay. It gets a good score, and we even got it submitted as a suggestion from Paola. Thanks Paola! We need to go back with yall!!
I didn't know what to expect, but when we walked inside it was a little smaller than I anticipated, which is still great. It's tucked into the side of a strip mall, so it almost has that undercover feeling, like people might undervalue it. I don't want to call it a hole in the wall, but it has that kind of feel. And usually those places are pretty good.
We sat wherever was comfortable for the five of us and dug right into the chips and salsa. Ever is a huge fan of tortilla chips, and she was awesome all dinner. Like, beyond awesome. Our boys would have NEVER (ever) just sat and enjoyed the meal, eating and chilling. But that's what she did. Yall are spoiled, guys haha!
But let's get to the taco review. As you can see, I went with four tacos. I love that you can order them individually. It lets me really shop around, and if you've read any of my past reviews, you know my tendencies. I got the barbacoa, carne asada, al pastor, and the Baja fish. What's pretty crazy is the Baja fish was the table winner this time. Ayren got the Baja fish too and loved it as well. I really enjoyed all my tacos. They did good with the cilantro and onions, they had good flavor, and lots of meat. If I wanted to stuff myself I probably could have gotten one more, but we got a table of chorizo and a couple bites of that topped me off.
Our server was super nice. The whole place felt inviting and relaxed. No loud music or craziness. I think a lot of people get to-go orders, so it wasn't very crowded, but it was also a Tuesday. With my parents in Fuquay, I'll probably be recommending we take them sometime as well.
But as always, the tacos can be good or bad, but the company is always the highlight, and it was great spending time with the Nelsons! They've already agreed they want to do it again, so this probably won't be the last time you hear from them on TacoMatt.com!
