La Buena Vida - Cary

Where do I begin with this review? If you've ever talked to someone who's been to La Buena Vida, they'd probably say the same thing: it's quite an experience, especially with your kids haha! Let's just say we'll be going back without the kids next time. (Though James said he wants to get the steak for his birthday... keep reading and you'll see why :))

This place used to be Totopos and we LOVED it. Same owner now, so when Brooke and I saw the "Veggie Tacos" on the menu we knew we had to get them. Sounds bad, but the fried cheese with the brussel sprouts was insane! We got that and the rib eye tacos, and this is when the craziness began.

It'd be way too long if I went into all the details, but when the food came out the veggie tacos were NOTHING like the menu read. And on the far other end of the spectrum, the Rib Eye tacos were THE BEST taco I've had in a while! Meanwhile, as we tried to explain to our server that these veggie tacos were all wrong, Kanye is blasting and the table next to us is getting a flight of tequila shots. The boys were loving the party atmosphere. It was hilarious.

They were nice and let us reorder, so I said "Gimme more rib eye tacos!" and what I got back was... not rib eye tacos. I think it was asada, I really don't know. But as Bad Bunny blasted and a guy in a mask painted the tomahawk steak in gold and set it on fire, I knew I just had to go with the flow. So we did, and we had the best time.

Our whole table ordered different tacos so we could pass them around, and I got to indulge in a variety: Rib Eye, Carne Asada, Agave Chicken, and Quesabirrias. They were all pretty good, but the Rib Eye stole my heart. When this place was Totopos I only ever got the veggie tacos. Now that it's La Buena Vida, I'm only getting the Rib Eye tacos... and a flight of party shots! Who's coming with me!!?
