Aye! Toro Tacos & Tequila

I'm really happy with how this TacoMatt mission has connected me to more people. What started as what I thought would be a solo thing has become way more about the fellowship and hanging out over tacos than the actual ratings.

Tonight was one of those times. I'm not sure me and Joe would have met up if it wasn't for tacos! I've known Joe since he was in high school and I was his small group leader, and now he's heading into his junior year at ECU this fall. We got to talk about our future, our faith in Jesus, and fishing. Everything that starts with an F besides tacos... oh wait, FOOD! haha! Great company. I've missed him, and it had been a long time, so this was awesome. Even though he told me when we arrived that he'd already eaten dinner, I knew he had it in him to eat some more tacos, ha ha!

Now on to the review. I've been to Aye! Toro before and it was pretty good, though I honestly don't remember what I got. I'm noticing a trend, too, especially when it's just two people getting tacos: a lot of places, you order one type and get three of them. For someone trying to try a lot of tacos, that's tough. You basically only get to try two types, which probably affects the score.

So Joe and I went pretty standard: the classic carne asada tacos and the birria tacos I've been enjoying lately. As you'll see in the photos, the steak tacos have lots of meat, and the birria comes with lots of broth. I also liked that they put the onions and cilantro on the side with limes. Basically make-your-own street taco. Like I said in a past review, I like a lot of flavor on there. Even if it's just onion and cilantro, I pile it on and squeeze a good bit of lime, and that made it enjoyable. I ended up with two birria and one steak, and Joe did two steak and one birria. He'd never had birria before, and I don't think he liked it all that much haha!

Overall we had a fantastic time. The food was pretty good. Not super memorable, but I enjoyed the tacos. The service was great. The company was awesome. A great taco night!
